Life Transitions:
Beth
helps clients deal with new situations that bring one into fear or into
the unknown. Situations such as a death of a loved one, a loss of a
relationship, a move to a new location, beginning or ending of a job or
school, a change in identity, letting go of who one once was, getting
married, getting divorced, pregnancy and the birth of a child, a
serious illness or new physical disability are all life transitions.
Life transitions are stressful, scary, exciting, and confusing. Beth
has experience in supporting her client's through these challenging
times. With support and understanding in a counseling setting, clients
are able to move through these transitions with greater ease and
acceptance.
Self Exploration / Spiritual Counseling:
Questions of "What is my
life's purpose?", "What brings meaning to my life?", "What path should
I be on?", "Am I living my life in the way I should be?", "Who am I?",
"What do I truly believe in?", "How can I gain greater happiness and
peace?", "Why do I feel so lost?", "What direction should I be heading
in?", "What career should I pursue?", "How can I live a more Spiritual
life?" are all questions of Self exploration. Beth is skilled to
address these questions and guide the client into an deep process of
finding answers. No question is too deep for Beth to explore. Many
patterns of dysfunction and unrest come out of feeling lost and
confused about oneself. Beth's inquisitive process can help heal and
transform issues of emptiness, powerlessness, feelings of being stuck,
feelings of insecurity and lack of confidence, low self-esteem, and
feeling lost in life. With the process of Self exploration, clients
can gain the Wisdom, insight, and Self-awareness to live a more
effective and meaningful life. Deep Self-Exploration can be a doorway
into one's Soul. Beth often helps her clients enter into a still and meditative space and coaches mindfulness practices that can help one find inner truth and Soul's voice.
Relationship Issues / Couples Counseling / Family Counseling:
Relationships
are one of the most important parts of a person's life. Beth helps
clients understand the dynamics that exist in their relationships.
Issues such as relationship conflict, communication, intimacy,
sexuality, parenting, family dysfunction, abandonment issues, boundary
issues, Co-dependency, relationship addiction are all problems that
Beth supports clients to work through. In addition to current
relationship issues, Beth has the skills to explore past relationships,
such as Family of Origin, in order to understand where dysfunctional
patterns arose from. Beth works to transform relationship patterns for
healthier connections and a greater, stronger sense of Self.
Trauma:
Trauma
can arise from many distressing situations and can remain stuck in the
mind and body causing serious disruption in a person's life. Anxiety,
panic, Post Truamatic Stress Disorder, insomnia, confusion, fear,
depression, isolation, and generalized stress are all symptoms of
unresolved trauma. Trauma can arise from any life threatening
situation, past or present abuse, a loss, death, a scare, a devastating
transition, severe grief, or experiencing or witnessing violence. Beth
has expertise in helping clients understand, cope with, and heal the
trauma they may have in their nervous systems. Beth uses EMDR, Mindfullness techniques, and somatic techniques to work with trauma.
She has helped many people with symptom relief, stress reduction, and
anxiety management.
Women's Issues:
Beth has worked
with women's issues extensively in her practice. She has experience
with issues that surface during pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage,
adoption, labor and delievery, Post Partum, and many other reproductive
issues. Women's issues also include topics such as empowerment,
confidence, self-esteem, and identity. A woman's identity as a mother,
a wife, a business woman, and a friend can be challenging and difficult
to balance. Women often struggle with holding on to themselves while
in relatinship. Many women struggle with Co-dependency. Beth has
worked with many women on these topics to find a greater sense of worth
and peace. Body image, physical health, and hormones are often
challenging and can be worked though in therapy. Beth truly enjoys
working with women on these various topics and has had much success
with helping women work though their struggles.
Addiction:
Beth
has a knowledge and understanding of the nature of addiction. Her
belief is that one enters a pattern of addiciton when he or she is
resistant to facing feelings and deal with issues of the deeper
interpersonal Self. Addiction can happen when there is a disconnect
from the true Self. Beth has expertise in drug addiction, alcoholism,
sex addiciton, gambling addiction, spending addiction, Co-dependency,
love addiction, and obessive/compulsive behaviors and destructive
actions that are addictive in nature. Beth uses mindfulness techniques
and cognitive/bahvioral techniques to help clients work through
addiction in order to find more freedom and peace of mind. With the
support of therapy, clients have been able to move into healthier life
syles and understand the mechanisms behind their addictions. Beth has
helped many people break debilitating addictions.
Mental Illness / Personality Disorders / Mood Disorders:
Beth
has worked with a wide variety of mental illness, Personality
Disorders, and Mood disorders. She has extensive expertise with Major
Depression, Anxiety-Panic Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder I, Bi-Polar
Disorder II, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic
Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder. Beth uses a combination of Psycho-Dynamic therapy,
Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy,
EMDR, Buddhist psychotherapy, and Gestalt to work with these
disorders. Beth has given support to many clients suffering from
Mental Illness, Personality Disorders, and Mood Disorders and has
taught them how to accept, cope, and understand their illness. In many
cases, Beth has helped clients gain healing, symptom relief, and full
recovery from debilitating disorders.
